In the program other Galician firms participate

The Company Gabadi specializing in naval accomodation, leads a research project aimed at designing a gas tank with membrane technology that could be used in smaller ships than those who currently in use and also in satellite plants. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is the main source of fuel for maritime trasnport, and the tank than foresees to develop the company in partnership with other firms could be used in ships that use conventional fuels and want to adapt to use LNG

The initiative has been named LNG Prototype Pack and will be funded by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) through the Conecta Pyme program, with funds from Feder and the Department of Industry.

Gabadi participates in this project with another firm also partner of Aclunaga, the technological Vicus DT, as well as NEO-CH4 Galicia and Innova Labs. In the morning the project was presented, coinciding with the start in the construction of the prototype. The forecasts indicate that it will be finished by the end of next November, in a Coristanco company that has provided its facilities for this purpose.

Antonio Llago, Gabadi’s manager, said the future membrane tank could be used to replace those currently used in LNG satellite plants. Hugo Garcia, director of Operations of the company, said that although shipowners have other alternatives to adapt their ships to the emission restrictions imposed by the European Union, these are more expensive than the proposal with this project. The presentation of the initiative was attended by representatives of several Aclunaga member companies.

Gabadi has a high specialization in the naval and gas sector. In 2015, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) ordered commission the construction of a cryogenic storage tank for LNG.

II IANC Conference

Gabadi has collaborated on II IANC Conference upon global climatic change, which took place on 20th November; with the attendance of specialized scientist, photographers, TV showmen and adventurers. The conference had charitable purposes and all the profits would be allocated to Cometa Association for Animal Care.

Gabadi agrees Shanghai LNG ship repair partnership

Gabadi has signed an agreement with Chinese shipyard Huarun Dadong Dockyard (HRDD) to repair LNG carriers, marking the deal in a ceremony at the SMM maritime exhibition in Hamburg last week.

Shanghai-based HRDD was founded in 1994 and is now one of ten largest shipyards in China. The yard, which specialises in ship repairs, sees new opportunity in repairing LNG carriers and in retrofitting vessels to run on LNG-fuelled vessels, a market in which Gabadi is involved.

A Coruna-based Gabadi specialises in containment tanks and provides marine outfitting services. It has also worked to retrofit LNG-fuelled vessels. The Spanish company is seeking to expand its international presence and has reached similar agreements with partners in Canada and Qatar.

Gabadi has a long-standing technical assistance and licence agreement (TALA) signed with France-based containment tank manufacturer GTT to build new membrane-type LNG tanks and to repair LNG carriers that use this technology. It has carried out work on GTT membrane-containment systems in Europe, the Middle East, Singapore and Malaysia.

Partnership GABADI and GTT

The partnership between Gabadi and France’s Gaztransport & Technigaz (TWG) for strategic business development in the LNG market.

Philippe Berterottière, CEO of GTT says that such partnerships are strategic for the development of the LNG business that can offer more competitive solutions in addition to an expansion of the market through the opening of direct actions by the shipyard according to Gabadi.

CERN trusts GABADI

CERN trusts Gabadi to build a cryogenic tank.

Gabadi will build a CRYOGENIC TANK for CERN. It will perform the entire process of building the thermal insulation and the membrane system.

CERN is the European Organization for Nuclear Research, it is the place where physicists and engineers are investigating the fundamental structure of the universe. For this purpose, the largest and most complex scientific instruments in the world are used in order to study the basic constituents of matter (fundamental particles) are used, they are made to collide among them close to the speed of light. The instruments used at CERN are particle accelerators and detectors that are built specifically for this function. CERN was one of the first joint ventures in Europe and has 21 member states.

Among Gabadi Ltd. specialties it is the construction of tanks and gas deposits with different cryogenic storage needs. Mark III and NO type Membrane tanks have been the most used for the LNG sea shipping from its beginning, 60 years ago.

It is a highly accurate and specialized work ordered by the leading company regarding R&D in Europe, CERN.
